Papers Signed ch.6

The sound of the doorbell woke Nicki up. She rolled out of bed and in that instant everything looked cloudy and blurry. She still managed to make her way to the door, but when Nicki opened it, it was like she was staring the devil dead in the eye. He was standing there behind suits filled with people from the government. Two pushed past her and went upstairs.

"Wait where are you going?" she asked but they just kept walking. Nicki tried to follow them but the lady's words stopped her in her tracks.

"Ms.Maraj we've been looking for you. You've seemed to dodge us long enough." One came downstairs with a tired Trin in his arms and the other in tow.

"No...No...NO!!!" she yelled. Everything was happening so fast Nicki didn't know what to do. She couldn't breath and everything seemed to get even more cloudy by the second. Nicki was beyond confused. She didn't know if it was from the tears streaming from her eyes or the immense headache she was having, but she felt like she was about to pass out. Nicki lunged at them and was roughly restrained in the process.

"Ms. Maraj you've been neglecting this child, putting her in harms way. With direct orders from the court, we are here to safely give Trinity Maraj to her fa-" Nicki interrupted her with her screams. She struggled with the man restraining her but he only seemed to grip her tighter.

"Father James Pittman, who as of today has full custody," she said picking up where she left off. The man handed a now screaming Trinity off to James. He held her tightly to him and kissed her tears.

"Your next," he said before turning around walking away with Trin.

                          *NICKI!!.......NICKI!!........NICKI!!........NICKI!!!!!!*

--NICKI--

I woke up in a cold sweat to Shanelle shaking and yelling my name. She started saying things, but I couldn't understand her I was too busy crying and trying to catch my breath.

"Honey it's alright. It was just a dream," she said rubbing my back.

"Where's Trinity!?!" I yelled more than I asked throwing a fit when I realized she wasn't beside me like she usually was.

"I told her to go to my room," she reassured me."You were scaring her. You have to relax everything will be okay," she continued, embracing me in her arms. Once I finally calmed down I just layed there on her chest listening to her heart beat.

"Hun I'm gonna go get Trin. Go wash your face you don't want her to see you like this," she stated getting up and going across the hall. I sluggishly slid out of bed and went into the bathroom. I ran warm water all over my face and whipped it off with a towel before going back to my bed. A few seconds later Nelly came back with T in her arms. Nelle gave her to me and I squeezed the life out of her.

"Pooh are you okay? Did mommy scare you?" I asked her and she shook her head yes in response.

"I'm sorry. Mommy is so sorry okay?" I said kissing her all around her face causing her to giggle.

"Okay let's all go back to sleep and discuss this in the morning," Nelle said getting under the cover with us.

"You not goin-"

"No," she said interrupting me."

                              ******************************

The next morning I woke up alone in my bed. Nothing was heard except the chirping sound from the birds outside my window. I rolled out of bed and did my daily morning routines, before opening my door to the smell of bacon. I strolled into the kitchen to find a pre made plate waiting for me along with Shanelle.

"Sit," she commanded and I complied.

"So what happened early this morning?" she asked me sitting beside me.

"Nothing, don't worry about it," I said taking the lid of my plate.

"You know my ears are always open. Confide in me Nic I'm here-"

"Yeah I see you. I appreciate it and all, but I'm fine and not hungry so..." I wandered off getting up to go find Trin.

"Oh uh uh sit you big ass down you gon eat this food," Nelle demanded.

"Um no I'm not. I'm not hung-"

"Bullshit you didn't eat all day yesterday. Matter-of-fact you never eat you give it all to Trinity. That little girl isn't all you have to live for and you got me bent if you think you gon die of starvation in my house no ma'am," she said raising her voice sliding the plate towards me.

"Now you ain't gotta talk to me but you gon eat SIT DOWN!!!" she yelled at me. Now lets get this straight I didn't sit down because she told me too, I was actually tired of standing. And I only ate half of the plate because I suddenly got hungry. She walked out the kitchen and came back with Trin who was covering her ears.

"Oh you don't have to cover your ears anymore mommy is finally cooperating. We gonna have so much fun today you and I, because mommy gon sit there until she finishes her food like a big girl," Nelly soothed.

They went upstairs leaving me with a half empty plate of waffles, eggs, and bacon and a lot on my mind. Shit just not going good for me. My life went from something to nothing and I feel so powerless at times. I'm a well educated black woman but what do i have to show for it. I have a beautiful two year old daughter, with no job, and I'm not even a fugitive but I'm on the run.

--SHANELLE--

I got a call from Drake telling me that Nicki got the job. I went downstairs to give her the good news, but I caught her in a moment. She had this glare that wasn't necessarily a mad one. It was more like a depressed hopeless one. I really worry about her sometimes. I wanna know what she's thinking, how she's feeling, what's going on with her period. She was such a happy girl, but now I don't know how to describe her. After watching her for a good ten minutes I skipped in there with the biggest smile on my face and gave her the biggest hug ever.

"I'm sorry you know I love you and I just want you to be the happy girl you used to be. You worry me sometimes and I just wanna know what's bothering you," I informed her never letting go of my grip.

"I know and I want you to know, but I don't want you no way affected by my situation. When the time come I'll tell you," she replied.

"Okay and that reminds me it's time for you to get ready to sign some papers, because you missy got a job with OVO Enterprise," I cheered cleaning off her plate. Boy when I tell you she was ecstatic. She actually smiled. We all got ready and drove the twenty-five minute drive to the office. When we arrived we went to the elevator and rose the 50 floors to boss man's office. We waited 5 minutes before the receptionist let us into his office. Drake and boss man stood when we walked in and greeted us.

"Good afternoon Ms.Maraj," he said shaking her hand.

"Shanelle," he greeted me opening his arms for a hug. I love him so much he's like a father to me.

"Ms.Maraj the position you applied for is not necessarily what you are going to get. Drake was currently telling me about how good of an accountant you are and coincidentally he fired our accountant a few days ago. We need a new one right away so what do you say?" he finished pushing a pile of paper towards her.

"Where do I sign?" she asked. Boss man started telling her the requirements and benefits of the job but I zoned them out when I heard a slight giggle. Trin and Drake yet again goofing around.

I actually like their relationship he actually has a genuine smile on his face. He hasn't smiled in a while, four years to be exact. That's when tragedy came crashing his way. Believe it or not but he didn't always have a cold heart. He used to be open, happy, and delight to be around. She flipped his life around to the point where he refuses to get back out there and find somebody to love. On the flip side that wrong combination made something bright and beautiful Naomi. I see the resemblance between Naomi and Trinity but why would I tell him that. He grieved long enough it's time for him to move on.

"I'll show you to your office," boss man's voice snapped me out of my thought. We went down to the 49th floor and to be honest I didn't know anybody besides Drake whose office was on this floor. This is gonna be interesting.

*I'M SO SORRY I'M LATE ONT HIS CHAPTER I HAD IT IN MY DRAFTS EVER SINCE THE LAST CHAPTER. I WASN'T REALLY FINISHED WITH IT BUT SINCE I'M SO BEHIND I JUST POSTED IT ANYWAY. Movie Night ch.5

--DRAKE--

"Please stop," Nicki pleaded while chasing Trinity around the house. Trinity whined and shook her head in response and kept on running away. I could tell Nicki was getting impatient by her disobedience. I must say for a two year old she's pretty fast. This went on for a little while longer before I decided to end it. I waited until she ran past me again before I picked her up.

"Beautiful why are you running around?" I asked her while she hung onto me tightly.

"Someone doesn't want to wash her hair," Nelle teased walking past an emotional looking Nicki.

"Aww is that why? Beautiful if mommy tells you to do something you do it okay? You can't be giving mommy a hard time that's not being beautiful. Don't you want to be beautiful?" I asked her and by how long it took her to nod I could tell she barely understood what I was saying.

"Okay now go wash your hair," I said kissing her cheek and handing her to Nicki.

"Thank you," she said timidly adjusting Trinity on her hip.

"Well you wouldn't have to thank anyone if you knew how to control your child, but I guess you're welcome," I replied. There was a moment of silence and we were both staring into each others eyes and her's were very glossy. When she finally walked away I turned around and was met with a slap across the face.

"You gon stop being so damn mean to her. She didn't do anything to you yet you keep treating her like shit. You are just like your mother," She said walking away and that got me heated.

"No I am not and don't you dare compare me to her or anyone else in my family," I raised my voice.

"Yes you are you look down at everyone that isn't as financially set like you. You are rude and belittle people for no reason. Do you know how much that woman has bee-,"

"Okay damn!! I get it she's been through alot! How many times am I going to hear you say that!?! What do you want me to do feel sorry for her?" I yelled interrupting  her. She bumped past me and went into the living room to look through the movie selections.

"Horror, comedy, or romance?" She asked.

"Horror," I replied slowly calming down. We have the weirdest relationship ever. We were just fighting but now we're gonna watch a movie together. We've been doing movie nights once a month ever since she moved here at 16. So I guess you could say it's a tradition. She put in Sinister and sat a cushion away from me. As the movie progressed she slowly started to get closer until she was wrapped around me.

"Baby," I huffed.

"Shut up," she said shielding her eyes from the tv. Half way into the movie I saw a small figure from the corner of my eyes. I turned in that direction to find a puffy haired Trinity standing by the couch staring at the tv. I didn't even hear her walk into the living room. I wonder how long she's been here?

"Beautiful you can't watch these types of movies. You're going to have nightmares," I told her and she kept her attention on the tv.

"Beautiful did you hear me?" I asked her and she didn't even flinch.

"That girl ain't scared of nothing. These are her favorite types of movies. You'd get nightmares before she does. Trin where's mommy?" Nelle asked. When she heard mommy she snapped to attention. Seconds later Nicki walked in and picked her up.

"What yall watching?" she asked sitting down next to Nelly and placing beautiful in her lap.

"Sinister and you let your daughter watch these types of movies?" I asked her more judgemental than I meant to.

"Yea she likes these types of movies. For some strange reason she doesn't like kid movies. Well," she stopped to think.

"She likes some I can't say she doesn't like all,"

"Wow nice parenting. Where's your mother of the year awar-" Nelly interrupted me with a punch to the rib. I jumped and we shared a death glare before I turned my attention back to the tv. By the time the movie was over they all were asleep. I carried them to their beds before finding some extra sheets and crashing out on the couch.

--NICKI--

I woke up in bed and I felt so weak. I looked to my right to find Trin out cold. I don't know what got into me, but tears just started streaming out of my eyes and I couldn't control it. I left the room so I wouldn't wake her up and went to the kitchen. I guess I wasn't paying attention because I went slamming into him and he caught me before I could fall.

"Excuse me," I croaked walking around him. I was shocked that he didn't say anything rude or mean in return. He said nothing and I didn't complain. Instead I sat down and layed my head on the counter. He was about to leave, but he turned around and sat beside me. There was no exchange of words and I've noticed that everytime I'm around him we would have these silent moments. I don't know if it's because he didn't care or if he just didn't know what to say, but he just sat there and listened to me cry. I felt myself being pulled into his arms and that's when I realized that he had no shirt on. I would've pulled away but he was so warm so I just snuggled into him. When I started to calm down he finally said something.

"What's wrong?" he asked me and I just shook my head.

"I do-on't want to b-bother you with my p-problems," I said wrapping my arms around his torso.

"When you're ready to tell me then I'm all ears," he said pulling me even closer. Two hours passed before I took him up on his offer.

"How are you so good with kids?" I asked him.

"I have a 4 year old daughter so I hope I'm good with kids for her sake," he joked and that made me smile.

"What's her name?"

"Naomi."

"Where is sh-"

"Wait hold on are you child protective services? What's with all these questions?" he joked and I started to giggle.

"I just wan-"

"No, no, no my turn to interrogate you," he smiled.

"Really interrogate?" I squealed.

"Hell yeah!! Okay um," he stopped to think.

"Why does Trinity like scary movies?" he asked and I rolled my eyes.

"It's a long story and I don't even know where to start. Umm........okay so i'd go over this woman's house to help her out with things like accounting, you know stuff like that and I'd bring Trin with me. So I guess their son was emo or whatever, but he didn't look like it. So he'd watch her while I'd help the mom. She started having nightmares and I didn't know why, but after awhile they stopped. So one day I took a break and I caught them watching those types of movies and I told the boy not to do that stuff around my daughter and he said okay. I come to find out that he still watching those types of stuff around Trin so I quit," I explained.

"Ohh so it was your job?" he asked.

"I guess you could say that because she was paying me for my services, but I wasn't working with a company or anything like that. Anyway ever since then she's loved scary, horrorish types of movies." I concluded right before my stomach started to growl.

"Damn ma you hungry?" he cheesed and I rolled my eyes again.

"Shut up!" I couldn't help but smile.

"And if I was?"

"Then we'd have to fix that. Common let's go get something to eat my treat," he offered, but I had to think about it for awhile,

"Come on I don't bite," he persuaded slowly pulling me with him. He got his shirt and keys and off we went. The car ride was short and peaceful. It wasn't until we arrived at the pizza place that I realized I was in a tank top with booty shorts and no shoes. He got out the car and looked at me with a questioning look when I didn't follow his lead.

"What's wrong?"

"I can't go out in public looking like this," I said motioning to my pajamas.

"Fine I guess we'll take it to go," he huffed locking the doors behind him. I waited until he was out of sight before I started freaking out.

"What the fuck am I doing!!! I barely know him ugh!!! Ohh shit Trinity!!" I yelled out loud banging on the dashboard.

"I'm so stupid."

--DRAKE--

I came back with three large boxes of cheese pizza to find Nicki bugging out. I unlocked the door to the back seat and placed the pizza there. I got into the drivers seat before I asked,"what's wrong?"

"I left Trinity alone in the room by herself. What if she freaks out? Omg she's going to have a heart attack," she said over dramatizing. I rolled my eyes and started the car. When we made it back to her house Nicki busted threw the doors and ran upstairs. A few minutes later she came back with sleeping beauty in her arms. Meanwhile I had already set up our plates. We sat down and continued our conversation.

"Okay everytime I see you around either if it's around the office or whatever you're always wearing very baggy clothes hiding your body. Why?" I asked anticipating her answer.

"Why do you care?" she responded.

"Well it's definitely on point if you don't mind me commenting, but I would've never known about your um.....well your....." I stopped realizing I was stumbling over my words. She giggled at me and it was super adorable making smile like a goof.

"You know what I'm trying to say. Anyway you should dress like this more often," I finished taking a bite of my slice.

"What booty shorts and a tank?" she asked dumbfound written all over her face.

"No I meant like... you know...fitted...nevermind," I said shutting up making an awkward environment.

"O..k but I got a question for you."

"Shoot."

"Why were you so mean to me?" she asked with a full mouth.

"Ohh I knew that was coming," I said putting my slice down.

"Umm I'm sorry about that I can come off a little-"

"Blunt, rude, uncivil, mea-"

"Okay I get it. But yeah I can come off harsh sometimes and I apologize," I said and by the look on her face I knew she didn't buy it. I huffed before I continued," I'm disappointed in myself for not trying to get to know you before I started to judge. From the bottom of my heart I'm sorry please forgive me." Her face spread into a smile showing her pearly white teeth.

"I guess we could start over."

"Guess? Really you guess? Okay I'll take that," I said putting my hands up. I took another bite of last pizza in the first box. By the way I'm filled up now I don't know why I got three.

"Now I got a question for you? Why were you crying a few hours ago?" I finally brought up. She put her head down focusing her attention to Trinity sleeping on her chest.

"A lot of financial problems came crashing down on me today I just became so overwhelmed," she explained. I changed the subject to a more funnier topic because for some reason I didn't want to see her sad for a second longer. We talked until she fell asleep again on the couch. I left her there because I enjoyed the company. It only took a few minutes before I followed her lead succumbed to slumber.

--NICKI--

I woke up to Trin jumping on the couch by my head. Drake picked her up and sat down in her spot putting her in his lap.

"Morning sleepy head," he greeted. I got up and stretched greeting him back. I ran my hands through the full length of my hair. I could've sworn my hair was in a ponytail.

"Where's my band?" I asked more to myself than anybody else.

"Oh here," he said handing it to me. II looked at him suspicious tying my hair.

"What? It fell out while you were sleeping. Plus you look better with it out. Don't she beautiful," he said tickling her making her giggle.

"Oh what a cute family moment," Nelle said with sarcasm.

"Since when did yall start getting along?" she asked eating a slice of pizza.

"Right about the time you started looking like that," he said with disgust.

"Ha ha so funny. Put on a shirt you not sexy nigga," whispered the last part under her breath.

"What was that?" he asked putting his hands on his ears. That was the beginning of a brother and sister argument between them. I looked on as they went back and forth. This is going to be an interesting journey.

Hide And Seek ch.4

--NICKI--

It's Wednesday and Trin, Nelly and I were on our way to my evaluation. Was I excited to see 'what's his face' hell no. But I need this job so I guess I'll have to deal with it. It's been a rough morning and I'm so stressed and frustrated that I don't feel like putting up with anyone's bullshit. Trinity has been crying for hours and won't stop. She wants to stay with me at the office but she can't. She has to get used to not having me around every second of the day. What better time than now for her to experience it. We pulled up to the building and we all got out. We walked into the building and was met at the front with 'what's his face'.

"Hey," he greeted nicely. So I guess we're being cordial today.

"Hey," I said back playing along. And as always his attention snapped to Trin. He furrowed his brows at the tears falling from her eyes.

"What's wrong beautiful?" he asked her getting down to her level.

"She's sad that her mom is leaving her with me for the day while she's here. Apparently she don't like me," Shanelle answered with attitude.

"That's not true she loves you she just never been away from me. You know how she is around people by herself," I reminded her and she just rolled her eyes.

"It's alright beautiful I'd be sad too if my mom left me alone with Nelly," he whispered to Trin but we heard him loud and clear.

"Shut up Drake! You're not funny!!" she yelled pushing him alittle.

"So lets get started," I suggested wanting to get this day over with.

"Yeah," he replied. I waved goodbye to Trin and started walking away.

--DRAKE--

Trinity started to whine and tried to follow us but Nicki motioned to Nelly to get her. She kept trying to get out of Nelly's grasp but it wasn't working. I felt bad for her but this had to happen. We were finally at the elevator and I looked back at Trinity and she fell to the ground. I thought she finally gave up but right when the elevator door opened she started crying even harder. She was screaming her head off, her face was red and it felt like my heart chipped a little.

--NICKI--

I hate it when my baby cries and I've never seen her cry like this before. I just couldn't take it.

"Baby come here," I told her and she got up and ran over to me still sobbing. I picked her up and she buried her head in my neck. She was crying so hard that she wasn't breathing and I was frighted.

"Shhh baby breath. It's alright shhh," I tried to sooth her by rubbing her back. She finally started breathing and I don't think I've ever been so relieved to hear her muffled cries.

"Can she just stay for today. I know its unprofessional but........" I wandered off.

"I promise today will be the first and only day," I begged.

"Can I see her for a moment?" he asked me while slowly taking her out of my arms. He went around the corner for 10 minutes and came back with a calm and relaxed Trin. Her face was not as red and her tears had dried up except for one on her cheek. He put her back in my arms and she gave me a big hug and a kiss on the cheek.

"You okay now?" I asked her and she nodded her head. I gave her a peck and put her down. She went running back to Shanelle and waved goodbye to me before they left.

"What did you say to her?" I asked him and he just shook his head.

"Nothing."

--SHANELLE--

"Okay T we got board games, video games, card games, and computer games. What do you want to do first?" I asked her and she stared at me for a minute before walking away. She went into the living room and turned the tv on to spongebob.

"No, no baby girl," I told her turning off the tv.

"We're suppose to be spending quality time together. Doesn't that sound like fun?" I asked her and can you believe she shook her head no. I ran upstairs and came back with her small board and marker. Since she doesn't talk I make her write down what she wants on the board so my life can be easier.

"What do you want to do," I asked her handing her the board and marker.

"B wit momae," she wrote with a pout on her face.

"I know honey but lets try to make the best of it," I convinced her. After that there was nothing but smiles on her face. We played almost all the games I had and it's only been four hours. Once we ran out of things to do we just sat there staring at each other.

"Umm you hungry?" I asked her and she shook her head no. We sat there for a few more minutes before it clicked in my head.

"You wanna play hide and seek?" I asked her and she nodded. We both go up and stood in the middle of the room.

"Okay you hide and I'll seek. I covered my eyes and started counting 1.....2.....3.....4," I peeked through my fingers and Trinity was still standing beside me but with a 'are you slow' face on.

"Go hide honey," I said pushing her a little. She ran off and I started counting again.

"1.....2.....3.....4.....5.....10 ready or not here I come." I started looking for her and I must say she's good at this. It was all fun and games until 1 hour later and I still hadn't found her. Everything was turned over and on the floor.

"Trinity!!! Where are you!!!" I yelled. I ran down the stairs to the basement and started flipping things down there but I still couldn't find her.

"T please come out!!! The game is over you win okay, just come out!!" I ran upstairs and continued to look. After another hour passed I broke down in tears. I was screaming and rolling on the floor. I heard someone walking up the steps and I hoped it was a murderer because as of right now I want to die. The door opened and Drake stood there at the entrance. I started crying even harder.

"Ohh g-god kill m-me." He scooped me off the floor and held me in his arms.

"What's wrong? What happened to this place?" He asked worried rubbing my back while I got comfortable in his chest.

"Tr-rin and I-I were p-playing games and w-we ran o-out so we played h-hide and s-seek. S-she h-hide and now I-I can't find h-her and I've been looking for 2 hours," I finally got out.

"Shh calm down we're gonna find her," he insisted. And that's why he's my best friend he's always there for me in my time of need. I don't know what I'd do without him.

"N-no Nicki is g-going to hate m-me. W-what am I gonna t-tell her?" I asked him.

"I'll find her stop crying," he said picking up a chair and sitting me in it. He started searching while I tried to calm down. When he finished looking up stairs he went to the living room and when I finally stopped crying I got up to help him. He went to the basement and I kept checking the living room. Twenty minutes later he came up stairs with a tired looking Trinity in his arms. I rushed over to them and searched T for any scratches or bruises. I sighed in relief.

"Aww Trin I'm so sorry I lost you. Do you forgive me?" I asked standing on my tippy toes so I could be somewhat eye level with her. She grabbed my forehead and I took that as apology accepted.

"I wouldn't. Look what she did to the house. What a mess huh?" Drake asked and T started pouting and shaking her head at me.

"Drake I'd hurt you if you hadn't help me."

"Mhm put on some shoes let's go," he told me.

"Where are we going?" I asked looking around the mess for some shoes.

"Well we have to get out of whoever is going to clean this mess, space. So how bout we go out to eat. Beautiful you hungry?" he asked her and she nodded her head.

Placing a peck on her cheek he said," okay lets go eat."

                                     ****************

--DRAKE--

"She is the most cutest thing ever when she eats," I pointed out to Nelly. We were at my favorite diner while her house was getting cleaned. Trinity was standing in my lap devouring my plate leaving me with her small plate of macaroni and cheese.

"She's so small. She's like a two year old in a one year old's body. I wonder why she's so small?" I asked myself.

"Oh Nic didn't tell you?"

"What?" I asked intrigued that there was actually a reason.

"She was born a few weeks premature," she said biting into her wing.

"Really?"

"Yeah like she was born three almost four weeks before she was due. It was so scary. I mean I was scared, the doctors were scared, Nicki was petrified," she started shaking her head.

"We didn't think she was going to make it but look at her now with her beautiful self," she said cheesing.

"Wow what a story. Nelle--," I paused hesitating.

"Nelle does she look like Naomi to you?" I asked her. She looked at me for awhile before she dropped her head.

"Drake," she sighed.

"You have to mov-,"

"No Nelly I can't move on. Just answer the question. Doesn't she?" I asked interrupting her. She stared at me with pity in her eyes and that infuriated me.

"Nelle you don't have to admit it or answer but you sure as hell better not look at me like that," I snapped covering Trinity's ears.

"Drake I'm sorr-"

"Just forget I asked," I interrupted attending back to Trinity. After a few more plates we left. I made sure to make a to go plate for Nicki because I know she didn't have anything to eat for lunch. We went to the office and picked her up and I took them to their freshly cleaned home. I dropped them off and while I was pulling out of the driveway Nelle came running over to me. I stopped and rolled down the window.

"Drake I don't want you leaving mad at me and as much as you say you're not I know you are." I didn't respond.

She huffed before she continued,"We're still on for movie night?" she asked me and I just nodded in response before backing out and leaving.

Hungry ch.3

--NICKI--

"It's been two weeks Nelly and they still haven't called."

"Ugh Nicki shut up!! You've been saying that since the morning after the interview you're going to get the job," she exaggerated.

"Fine you didn't have to be so mean," I said getting more comfortable. We were sitting on the couch cuddling under a blanket watching tv. Trinity was on the floor sleeping using her spongebob stuffed animal as a pillow. She freakin loves that thing. She's takes it everywhere. It's sad because I sometimes have to lie to get her to leave it at home or in the car. She really likes this place. It's more open, bigger and most importantly safer than any other place we've stayed in. I'm happy she likes it here. She's even warming up to Shanelle. Trinity likes to keep to herself and she doesn't react to new people very well so imagine my surprise when I woke up on the second day of being here to find Nelle and Trinity playing hand games.

"Nelle you know I love you right?" I asked her to make sure she knew.

"Yeah I know," she replied.

"I also appreciate everything you've done for me."

"YES I KNOW you've also said this COUNTLESS times I get it," she said rolling her eyes.

"Why are you being so mean?" I asked pouting.

"You know I'm kidding. It's just that you keep telling me this as if I didn't already know," she explained.

"I'm sorry I feel as if I don't show you how much I actually do love you especially when we were in high scho-"

"Nicki don't start," she interrupted me.

"Why can't we ever talk about it?" I asked. I've wanted to know how she felt during the situation years ago for a long time but she always shuts me down.

"Because I don't want to talk about it. Leave it alone I've gotten over it and I don't want to think about it anymore." Silence fell upon us as I focused my attention back on the plasma screen. Trinity started to shuffle and opened her eyes. She got off the floor with spongebob and was wobbling all over the place before falling on her butt because she was off balance.

"Honey are you okay?" I asked her and she nodded her head while rubbing her eyes. She started patting her belly with a pout on her face.

"Okay hold on." I told her getting from under the blanket.

"Who are you talking too?" Nelle asked me.

"Trinity," I replied looking at her as if she was slow.

"But she didn't say anything," she said looking at me as if I was stupid.

"She patted her belly she's hungry. Remind me to never let you babysit you gonna starve my baby," I uttered while walking into the kitchen.

"We ain't got no food and how was I suppose to know her communication methods?" she asked.

"Really communication methods. Now you sound stupi-" I was interrupted by Trinity's whining.

"Aww T we gotta go grocery shopping can you wait for a little while?" Nelly asked her and Trinity shook her head no with a pout.

"Well you're gonna have too baby." I picked her up and took her upstairs to change and put on some shoes. We went to the living room and waited for Shanelle to get ready before we were on our way.

--DRAKE--

"Did you get all the things on the list?" my mom asked me.

"Yeah mom I already told you that."

"Call off what you have so I can make sure."

"Eggs, milk, sugar, yeast, six different colored frostings, and fish," I huffed.

"What type of fish?"

"What do you mean what type of fish? Regular fish," I replied looking at the phone as if she could see me.

"No I said whitening eight piece fish!!" she yelled.

"Okay I'll switch them out," I replied annoyed.

"Okay hurry back," she said before hanging up.

I got out the checkout line  and went back through the aisles looking for where I got the fish from. As if it didn't take forever to find it the first time. My mom sometimes annoy the hell out of me. She changed when wealth came into the picture. She became uncivil to anybody that she felt was beneath her. She's always too good for things now she's too good for regular ass fish. My sister is a whole nother story. She's like a younger version of my mom but snobbier. We don't get along at all. I finally found the frozen fish section and put the fish back.

"What did she say it was called again?" I asked myself out loud. I looked around for help and saw Shanelle, Nicki, and Trinity turning the corner into the aisle next to mine. I don't think they noticed me. I looked around the corner to catch Trinity's stare. The others were still unaware of my presence. I started making silly faces causing her to smile which turned into a laugh. I kept on until she was crying laughing.

"What's so funny baby," her mom asked her. She looked up still laughing before looking back at me.

I continued to make her laugh but quickly walked away when Nelly and Nicki started looking around for the source of her laughter. I didn't want them to think I was stalking, or watching them. I started looking for the whitening fish again and found it. I opened the freezer door and pulled it out. I turned around and jumped accidently closing the door with my back. Nelly was standing behind me with her arms crossed.

"Why so jumpy?" she asked me while my heart rate regulated.

"Maybe because the devil snuck up behind me," I breathed heavily.

"Funny," she said sarcastically while making a face.

"So when are yall going to call and tell us she got the job?" she asked me with her arms still crossed.

"When she actually gets the job," I mumbled.

"What was that?"

"Huh nothing umm we had other applicants that applied for the same job she is currently applying for so we are going through everyone and we'll hire the best person for the job."

"She is the best person for the job plus she needs this job."

"Do you even know what position she applied for?" I asked her and she fumbled with her words confirming my thoughts.

"Well n-no i don't know what she applied for but s-so what she's good at anything she does. Can't you pull some strings so her name can be on the top of the list?

"No because she may not be the best and we want the best."

"Okay what if I bring her by the office and you test her out there with some of the lines because I know yall backed up in that department. She'll finish up the things that need to be done, you see how good she is, you hire her and you don't have to pay her for the work she did because she wasn't 'officially' an employee at the time. You save money, she got a job and everybody's happy." I thought for a little while before agreeing.

"Deal but what if she doesn't do a good job?"

"Well we don't have to worry about that because she'll do great. Okay now freshen up and go to the other aisle and break the news to her. By the way this conversation never occurred and I won't tell her how you was luring her daughter to you with faces," she mumbled the last part.

"Excuse me!?!" I yelled after her even though I heard her loud and clear.

"Freshen up? Fuck she mean freshen up I'm as fresh as it gets."

--NICKI--

Where is this woman? She got my small ass pushing these two carts by myself. And yes I said two carts. One was filled with every snack Trinity liked that we walked passed and the other was filled with stuff Shanelle picked up. I let Trinity pick out whatever she wanted because I felt like I at least owed her that since I brought her into a life where she constantly had to hide and run. But I think she went too far. Nelly came from around the corner and I was beyond relieved.

"Where have you been? You know I don't have any upper body strength to push these carts," I reminded her letting go of hers.

"Sorry I was thinking of making fish but I changed my mind. Umm honey I see you got food for the baby what are you going to eat?" she asked me looking at my cart.

"I'll eat what you'll eat," I told her as if it was obvious.

She started to doing this fake laugh before saying," Ohh noo baby girl this is Shanelle's food not Shanelle's and Nicki's. You catch my drift you better buy yo ass something to eat." I looked to the side of me and picked up a pack of ramen noodles and waved it in her face as if I was the shit.

"Bitch I don't need your food Imma eat good tonight."

"Mhm but forreal Nic how you gon pay for all this we both know you ain't got no job yet."

"I don't know I just feel as if she deserves this. She doesn't get stuff like this often I just wanted to treat her to what she likes."

"Okay so you let her buy the whole snack section," she joked.

"I know, what's in this cart is all we're going to buy nothing more i'm putting my foot down." Right when I said that Trinity came up to me with a pack of ring pops in her arms.

"'No Trin you can't get anymore snacks if you get that you have to put something back," I told her. She tossed the pack into the cart barely making it in then looked at me with a pout on her face.

"Alright now put something back." She quickly snatched the ramen noodles out my hand and threw it on a shelf. Shanelle started laughing and I huffed.

"Okay let's go before my blood pressure drops and I go into anaphylactic shock." We turned the corner and I went flying into someones chest.

"Excuse me."

"Yeah you're excused," he said rather rudely. I look up at the jackass and I wasn't surprised by the face. This nigga, you'd think he would've at least changed some type of way. Who the hell he thinks he is with his high yellow ass. If I had the guts to go off on him I would've the first day I ever met him. I tried to walk past him but he pulled me back.

"Actually I've been meaning to talk to you about the job. There were other applicants that applied for the same job as you and it would help me and the boss choose the right person if we saw you in action. So come in sometime this week we have work that'll be ready for you," he finished before he walked off.

"Wait!!" I yelled after him. He stopped and turned around with his eyebrows raised.

"You didn't ask me to come in you more commanded that," I spoke up.

"Did I ask you to apply?" he asked walking up to me.

"N-"

"Then I don't have to ask you when to come in for an evaluation," he interrupted.

"Hey beautiful," Drake snapped his attention to my daughter beside me. He bent down and started smoothing his hand over her hair. She grabbed his nose and started squeezing it.

"Tell mommy to come in Wednesday morning and Friday night okay," he said tickling her and of course she started to laugh.

"At 10:00 on both days," he said walking away.

"Is he always that rude?" I asked Nelly.

"You the one who let him run over you like that," she said shrugging her shoulders and walking in the direction of the checkout lines.

                                       *****************

We were home and Nelle was making dinner. Trinity already ate and was now running around the condo. I've never seen her so hyper before. She was running, skipping, crawling, and jumping everywhere. I was afraid she was gonna go superman on my ass and start flying.

"You still think giving her half a bag of gummy worms was smart?" Shanelle giggled more than asked.

"She wasn't going to eat anything else. She was going to ruin her dinner anyway so I let her eat a little more than usually. How was I suppose to know she would attack it like a vulture." Shanelle started shaking her head. She finished making dinner and fixed her a plate. Can you believe she was actually serious about not sharing. I just watched her while she ate.

"Stop giving me that look." I kept looking at her though.

"I was kidding go make your big butt a plate." I got up and did just that with a smile on my face. We were eating talking about stupid stuff while Trinity kept running around. She tripped, fell, got back up and looked at me.

"Are you okay baby?" I asked her and she nodded her head.

"You want some?" I asked motioning to my plate and she shook her head no.

"Okay be careful, gon bout ya buisness."

"Such bad english. Is this what you teach her," she joked making a face. I rolled my eyes and looked back at Trinity who was still standing there looking at me.

"You tired?" She shook her head no again.

"What's wrong then?" I asked her and she looked away before she started jumping again and took off.

"She's so weird but she's so cute you can't hold it against her," Nelle commented. She came running back into the kitchen but this time it looked like something was in her hand. Me and Shanelle finished our food and washed the dishes. I waited until Trin came running back through the kitchen and into my arms. I picked her up and walked into the living room with Shanelle and watched some tv. I looked down in her hands and something was there.

"Baby what's in your hand?" She opened it and there laid a crumpled up hundred dollar bill.

"Trinity where did you get this from?" I asked her but she was looking everywhere but at me. When I finally got her attention I asked her the same question and she looked at me confused.

"Nelly this yours?"

"Naw I ain't ballin like that but I'll still take it," she said taking it out of my hand.

"Trin were did you get that from?" I asked for the third time pointing to the bill in Shanelle's hands. She started patting my sweats pocket and I finally got what she was trying to tell me. I went upstairs and went through the clothes she wore earlier and I saw a stack of hundreds in her jean jacket pocket. I went downstairs to show Nelly.

"WOW!!! Where did that come from?"

"I have no idea. Jesus did my baby rob a bank when wasn't looking?"

"Yeah the security guards with guns backed down to a two year old with a sippy cup," she said sarcastically but I was too busy county the bills to care.

"Nelle this is twelve hundred dollars," I looked at her with wide eyes.

"How did a two year old start ballin in my houses before me?" she joked.

"This is serious. What do we do? Should we turn it in?"

"What!!! No they gon take it for themselves. Plus I'm sure she didn't take it from anybody forcefully. For all we know someone gave it to her. You need it so keep it," she advised. Silence filled the room except the talking from the tv. I considered what she said. She sat up abruptly.

"Do you think he pu-"

"No!! Why would he do tha-"

Maybe he heard you when we were talking about paying for the stuff at the store." The more I thought about it the more it made sense.

"Ugh I'm so embarrassed," I grunted throwing my head back.

"Maybe it wasn't him and it was someone else. Remember when she disappeared for a second then came back with the ring pops maybe someone gave it to her then," she tried to cheer me up.

"One that'll make me a bad parent for letting her out of my sight. Someone could have taken her. And two they still had to have heard me. I'll rather go with the first scenario." I turned to Trinity who was now sitting in front of the tv. I called her over and sat her in my lap.

"I'm sorry I let you get out of my sight I'll never do it again," I told her then kissed her cheek. She looked at me confused and focused her attention back on the tv.

"No one ask don't tell."

"Alright."

*I got 7 comments on my last post and I'm so happy. That's the most comments I've ever got (sad I know but I don't care). Sorry this chapter sounded bullshitty to me. I really hated it and it took a week and a few days to type it. I know it's super long and if you guys want me to I'll shorten it next time. I had to get this chapter out the way so I could get to the chapter I can't wait to get too. It was suppose to be the next chapter but I have to add another on in between this one and that one so the story can make more sense. Sorry for any eras too tired to go over this COMMENT PLEASE!!!*

The Interview ch.2

--DRAKE--

"Here at OVO Incorporation we dominate any other company with our music, technology, and fashion departments. We make it look easy compared to all these other companies. However for this place to run smoothly work has to get done. I will weigh you down with assignments and I'll expect them to be completed at a deadline. You'll only have three strikes before you're out of here. Can you accept these conditions?" the boss asked as he leaned back in his chair waiting for her answer.

"Yes definitely," she said while shaking her head rapidly.

"Good," he said nodding.

I zoned them out and looked back at Trinity. I caught her still staring at me I wonder how long she's been looking at me. Maybe she doesn't like me and is just trying to keep an eye on me. It would help if she showed some emotion. She's not giving me a happy, sad, or mad look. Hell not even a disgusted one, just a blank stare. I smiled at her and she kinda jumped a little then furrowed her brows. Seconds later she had that blank look back on her face. She carefully slid off the couch and slowly walked over to me. When she finally was in front of me her mom took notice of her sudden movement.

"Baby go sit back on the couch," she said.

"Oh no I got her," I said picking her up and putting her on my lap. It looked like she was going to object but I gave her a reassuring look before she focused back on the boss. They continued talking while Trinity and I went back to staring at each other. She has such unique eyes they were grey with a little bit of brown. She's just so beautiful. I pulled out my phone and popped up some games.

"You wanna play," I whispered to her. She looked at me then looked at the phone. I was playing temple run and like any other kid she was fascinated by it. I played two games while she watched with wide eyes. She grabbed the thumb I was using to move the man and held on to it while I played. I took that time to admire her small hands. Everything is small on her. We kept playing until Shanelle came in with some food. I stood up to help her and positioned Trinity on my waist.

"What yall order?" I asked going through the bags. Nelly slapped my hands and went through them herself.

"Chinese," she said handing me two foam containers one big and one small with two spoons. I placed them down and got the drinks. I sat back in my seat and opened my container. Fried rice and chicken classic Chinese.

"Nelly I don't think she can eat this chicken." I said opening her's.

"I figured so I told them to chop her's up," she said handing nicki a container.

"They did that and still added two more wings. There is little to no rice in here," I mumbled taking them out and out putting some of my rice in it's place.

"Can I feed her?" I asked her mom.

"You can try I don't know if she'll accept it or not." I scooped some rice in a spoon and put it towards her mouth. She looked at it then at me then at her mom. Nicki gave her a nod and she opened her mouth.

--NICKI--

"Alright people I'm out gotta get unpacking. See yall later," she said getting ready to leave

"You sure you can do that all by yourself?" I looked at her worried.

"Yea don't stress," she said walking out. We continued the interview for another two hours before he started to somewhat close the interview.

"We have a lot of positions in this corporation. Technology freaks, fashion icons, musicians, writers, beat producers etc. Where do you think you fit in best?" he asked me. I really don't know the answer to that question. I'll do almost anything at this point.

"I'm not much of a tech person or a beat maker so any of the other two choices is fine with me."

"But that left  you with three choices," he pointed out.

"I know it's just that i'm not a musician. The other two are more reasonable. What are the job descriptions.

"What do you think they are? I mean what qualifications do you think you need to be able to do those jobs?" he asked me.

"I don't know. I guess for you to be able to be a writer you'll have to be able to write songs that'll relate to the youth of today. Those would be the hype songs while the slow sexy songs would relate to the older generations like from 18 and up. But now people listen to all types of music so it doesn't matter what group of people you're trying to reach now a day-"

"Do you think you'll be able to do that?" he interrupted.

"Now that I think about it not really."

"Why?"

"I could write songs but I probably won't make people feel a type of way with my words."

"And why is that?" That made me think for awhile. Why wouldn't they? I mean ofcourse they would feel the pain behind my songs but besides that you won't feel anything else.

"People, especially girls, want those songs that'll make them feel sexy and some songs that they'll listen to when they're hurt and trying to get over someone. Anybody can make a grief songs but I can't write a song that'll make you feel sexy. As weird as it sounds people want songs to make love to them and I can't give that," I informed him.

"Why does it have to make love why not sex?"

"Either way I can't make them I don't find sex satisfying," I said and their heads snapped up with astonished eyes.

"What," I asked with my mouth full with the last of my rice.

"You don't find sex satisfying?" Drake asked stunned.

"No," I replied simply.

"Why not that's w-what it's suppose to do-"

"You have a CHILD!!!" the boss emphasized interrupting drake.

"Sooo?" I asked not knowing where this conversation was going.

"How'd she get her-" he stopped and touched his temple.

"How many times have you actually had sex."

"Isn't that a bit personal?" I asked and they both looked at me waiting for me to answer the question.

"Once," I finally answered after a few minutes of silence.

"AHHH," they both yelled.

"Of course you feel that way. Your first time is always awkward and painful but eventually the pleasure will come."

"No, no, no pain or pleasure," I said shaking my head.

"You mean to tell me you felt no painful stretching feeling?"

"No." When I said that they both looked at each other and started nodding their heads saying "ohh," in unison.

"What?" I asked a little confused.

"It was the man's package that wasn't satisfying," they also said in unison and when I caught on my eyes grew wide.

"Oh my god can we change the subject!!" I somewhat yelled.

"We're just saying he had to be as small as your hole for you not to feel any stretching pain. Technically you're still a virgin. Well you were until she came popping out of you," Drake said as if it was nothing looking down at Trinity. I gave them a dumbfounded wtf embarrassed look.

"Okay the fashion department it is," the boss said getting off the subject. I was unknowingly still giving them the look and he quickly ended the interview.

"Umm that was the last thing we had to discuss anyway we'll call you next week to tell you if you got the job nice meeting you," he said getting up and shaking my hand.

"I'll walk you out," drake said getting up with Trinity on his hip. We walked out to the elevator and dropped down to the first floor. Drake had called Shanelle on our way down so I was just waiting for her to get here. I was slowly walking back and forth when Drake decided to strike up a conversation.

"So how old is she?" he asked.

"Two and a few months," I replied.

"She's very pretty," he complimented.

"Yeah." He continued to try and talk to me but I kept giving one word responses because I'm still not over our little encounter.

"Look I know you probably don't have the best first impression in your head about me. I know I come off cold towards people and you might have to get use t-"

"Is that your way of apologizing?" I asked interrupting him.

"Well," he paused for a second before he continued.

"Yeah."

"That was very warm thank you," I said sarcastically.

"Oka-" Shanelle came walking in with and umbrella interrupting him.

"Come on Nic lets go the cars running," she said out of breath.

"Bye see you later I guess," he said and turned around to walk away.

"Um Drake."

"Yeah," he said turning around.

"Can I get my baby back?" I asked.

"Oh my bad," he sad handing her over to me. Shanelle and I went back to the car and I buckled Trinity in the car seat before getting in the passenger side.

"How'd it go?" she asked

"Interesting."

*This is Trinity if you're wondering. Comment please and in your comment tell me if it is easier to see things in this yellow or in the green in the chapter. Thanks for reading*

Running Away ch.1

This is actually becoming tiring. Running I mean. From the same man that is trying to hurt me and my child. You'd think after two year he'd stop. Stop searching for us, following us, and hopefully just stop breathing altogether. I've ran away from him six times these past two years. Everytime I think I'm safe i see him or one of his boys and panic. I go to my current home get my baby and pack our stuff and move to the next safe house I can think of. It came to the point where I realized I'm never safe, not in this world. I just want to give up sometimes because it's exhausting to hide from a man that knows someone in every state. I never know who to trust or who to hide from. If it wasn't for this little bundle of joy I hold in my arms right now I would've killed myself a long time ago. The thought of her having no other choice but to grow up with that sad excuse of a father would kill me even more in the afterlife.

"Welcome to Washington The Evergreen State. God please don't let him find us again."

                                        ***************

--SHANELLE--

"I'd really appreciate it."

"I bet you would but I'm not giving one of your friends from the hood a job. You can forget about that." I made a face at the phone as if he could actually see me. I guess he realized I was insulted by the silence on the line.

"Look I'm sorry I didn't mean i-."

"I just wanted to do a good thing for an old time friend. She's been through alot she's just trying to survive," I interrupted.

"I understand and I can respect that bu-"

"She's a very hard worker and she needs this so she can provide for her daughter," I interrupted once again. The line went silent again before he took a heavy sigh.

"Okay bring her by tonight at ten for an interview. I'll persuade my dad to give her a chance. However you owe me and don't tell her anything about me. I don't need anybody else asking me for favors." Someone started knocking on my car window. I looked to see a soaking wet Nicki. That's when I realized it was raining.

"Deal! I owe you and I love you," I hung up before he could say another word and unlocked the door.

She opened the back door and placed her daughter in the backseat. I got out the car and helped put her luggage in the trunk. I shut the lid and we got in the car.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah why?"she asked through chattering teeth.

"Well you look tired, cold and wet but not in the good way," I joked causing us both to share a laugh.

"I'm fine," she tried to reassure me but her eyes seemed to be glossy and I'm sure the rain didn't cause that.

"Okay well we won't have time to go to my place and unpack because you got a job interview at 10:00 which is in an hour and fifteen minutes. Sadly it'll take us an hour and thirty minute to get there so lets hit the road," I informed her.

"Okay thank you so much for taking us in," she said looking back at her daughter.

"No prob how's my little niece doing back there," I said taking the hood of her big jacket off her head and running my hands through her hair. She just looked at me with wide eyes before turning her attention back to the seat belt.

"Oh that reminds me I left the car seat at the house. I'll hook it up to the car during your interview," I said before starting the car and driving down the road. The ride was very quiet and awkward. I looked at Nicki and her head was down messing with her nails. I looked in the rear-view mirror to see her daughter passed out in the backseat.

"What's her name again?" I asked focusing back on the road.

"Huh?" she asked looking up.

"Your daughter what's her name again?"

"Trinity," she reminded me.

"Yeah that's right cause when we were at the hospital and you didn't know what to name her. So we went through a whole list of names and she wa-"

"Sleeping in my arms an-"

"When you said Trinity she woke up. And every time we said it she'd keep smilin-"

"But then it started to stink an-"

"We realized she pooped in your arms," we both busted out laughing at the memory.

"And till this day I don't know which one she was smiling about. The name or the load she dropped," Nicki giggled.

"It was a load wasn't it. It was so big you needed help changing her. Aww our first diaper change," I cooed.

"Yeah I'm so glad you were there," she said while we were both catching our breaths. The silence had dropped on us again but I loved talking about the past with her I had to keep the conversation going.

"She's so pretty."

"Mhm I think the bus ride up here has finally got to her," she said looking back at her daughter.

"She slept through the first half of the ride and ate through the other," she joked. Before the conversation could develop we pulled up in front of the office.

"10:05 I shaved off ten minutes gives me time to explain some things. Okay this interview is going to last from three to five hour-"

"What?!" she yelled waking up Trinity.

"The minimum is two hours and that is for the lucky ones that catch him at a busy time. Be professional and always say the right unexpected answer to everything he asks. Keep your head up. Always make eye contact because you got this looking down thing going on with you. Don't let him run over you. If he buts in while you're talking do the same to him but be respectful with it. Your late but don't make up an excuse. You ready?" I asked her and she shook her head. We both got out the car into the beating rain. She got Trinity out and we proceeded to walk into the building.

                                                          ****************

--DRAKE--

They finally walked through the door as if they weren't late.

"You're late. Are you always this late for a job interview?" I asked her. She just looked at me with glossy eyes as if I wasn't talking to her. A few seconds went by and she still hadn't answered me.

"Am I talking to myself?"

"We're only five minutes late lighten up," Shanelle tried to advise me.

"NO!! SHE'S nine minutes late and she still hasn't answered my question." I looked back at her waiting for her to finally speak.

"No," she said timidly and right then and there I knew she wasn't going to survive this interview.

"It's not our fault her bus came late," Shanelle defended her. Can she not speak for herself. This isn't going to work.

"There is no us, or we there's a her and she. She won't even survive a minute in there. She has no balls whatsoever you are wasting my time."

"Drake you are being cold and mean as hell right now. Even your fa-"

"Shanelle!!" I yelled at her daring her to finish her sentence.

"Our boss is even more understanding than you! Give her some slack she has been through a lot," she said pushing me alittle.

"So I've heard. What's your name?" I asked rather harsher than I meant.

"Nicki," she said eyes even glossier and more out this time.

"Why are you wet?"

"It's not from the heavy rain outside I can assure you that," nell said arrogantly.

"Keep getting smart with me," I warned her.

" Lets go he's waiting." We went in the elevator and I pressed the 50th floor and up we went. By the time we reached the 20th floor the little girl started whining and that was when I acknowledged her presence. She was very quiet until now. Well I think it's a she. I don't know what boy would wear a purple jacket with pink shoes willingly no matter what age. Unless he was born on that other stuff. I couldn't really see its face because of the heavy jacket so I'm gonna call it a she. Anyway she held onto her mother's leg the rest of the way up. Once we got off we walked the long hallway to his office before I knocked and opened the door. They walked in and I closed the door behind them.

--NICKI--

When we walked into the room there was a man behind the desk who I guess is the boss. I don't know what to expect. I sure as hell didn't expect this Drake man to be so sour towards me especially in front of my daughter. Maybe it's because he doesn't know me or he's just plain rude but he obviously doesn't want me here so I guess I can expect the same from the boss. He stood up and greeted us.

"Hello nice to meet you. Thank you for coming in this night. Please sit," he said directing me to the seat infront of his desk. I placed Trinity on the couch in the office and sat in front of his desk. Shanelle went over to him and gave him a hug and he gave her a kiss on the forehead.

"What are you doing here? How's it goin honey?" he asked her.

"I'm here to drop your soon to be new employee off to her job interview," she said rather slyly.

"Oh so in your mind she already got the job?" he laughed more then he asked.

"Mhm anyway I better get going hom-"

"Before you go home can you pick up some food for us because we are going to be here for awhile," he interrupted.

"Sure what do you want?"

"Umm how bou-." He quickly paused and looked at me.

"Why don't we let you choose? What should we buy?" he asked me and all that ran through my mind was what Shanelle told me in the car 'Always say the right unexpected answer to everything he asks'. I started thinking quick because I didn't want to give off the same impression I did with Drake with the boss. Then it clicked in my head.

"Chinese food sounds nice to me," I responded. His face spread into a smile.

"What made you think of chinese food?" he asked and that's when I realized he must like asking questions.

"Well it's not simple or too complex. It's very tasty and you don't get your hands dirty like you would with the most common answer pizza. Even if you do they give you napkins unlike most other places. Chinese is not cheap or expensive it's perfectly fine for this occasion," I said all in one breath. The room went silent for awhile before he nodded.

"Okay chinese sounds good to me too. That's a very unanticipated choice. I like you already," he said before reaching in his pocket to get his wallet. He pulled out a hundred dollar bill before closing it and putting it back into his pocket. Shanelle took it and walked towards the door. The Drake dude opened it before she could touch the knob and walked in. They shared a look before she walked out. He closed the door behind her and handed me a towel. I wrapped it around me and waited for things to get started.

--DRAKE--

I sat down in the seat beside the desk and got some of the paper work together. Once I was ready I looked at the boss to let him know I was ready. He was about to speak when the kid started whining and grabbing at her jacket. Nicki went to go get her but the boss stopped her.

"No no Drake take off  her jacket. Nicki sit back and relax lets get started," he said said leaning back in his chair. I gave him a wtf look and he gave it back before continuing with the interview.

I dropped the papers on the desk rather forcefully before walking over to her. I placed her on the floor before kneeling and unzipping her big ass jacket. As soon as that was off there was a thinner one underneath. When I took that one off I looked up at her and she looked down at me. I was in shock. She was so small and adorable. She looked just like her. Just like Naomi. The only difference was the eye color but besides that they could've been twins. My heart dropped just thinking about Naomi. I smoothed her hair back with my hand. She's so small but she has long and curly hair tied up in a ponytail. She grabbed my nose and started to lightly squeezing it.

"Trinity stop it. I'm sorry," she said looking apologetic. Her mom snapped me out of my trance. That's when I realized I've been staring at her for awhile. I got up and sat back in my seat dazed.

"Are you okay?" she asked me.

"Umm yeah I'm fine," I said clearing my throat before picking up the papers.

"You sure you look out of it."

"I'm sure he's fine. Who is this little cutie?" he asked looking at her.

"Her name is Trinity," she informed us.

"Well it's nice to meet you Ms. Trinity." She looked at him with wide eyes before looking back at me.

"She doesn't talk she lacks social skills. Doctors say she may have social anxiety disorder they aren't sure yet. Baby sit on the couch and wait for mommy okay?" she asked pointing to the couch. Trinity pulled herself onto the couch and sat up straight. She looked at her mom before looking back at me. I guess she's as interested in me as I am with her.

"Okay then lets get back to it shall we."
